Day 44: Touching My Toes

Because of the tight muscles in my legs as a result of my disability for most of my life I haven’t been able to touch my toes by bending over without bending my knees. In fact until about five years ago I couldn’t even get past my knees. I know this might not seem like a big deal to most people, but it was to me. When everyone else around you can do it, or at least go further than you it’s very frustrating. Sometimes if I could avoid it I wouldn’t even try, or come up before everyone else hoping they didn’t notice.

Two years ago, I began to get close to touching my toes. I’m not sure what caused it, perhaps I was Really trying when before I hadn’t, or I was stretching more consistently than I had in a while, I don’t know. Anyway, within a couple of weeks I touched my toes for the first time. You can’t imagine how excited I was, I couldn’t believe it! Years before I had pretty much given up hope that it would ever happen, but here I was doing it!

My feet have to be a shoulder width apart for me to be able to reach my toes, but I don’t care, I can touch them! I hope someday I can do it with my feet together, but that’ll probably take time. Since then I’ve wondered what else have I thought I’d never be able to do that I’ll be able to do someday this side of heaven?

Day 44: Thank you Lord that after so many years I can touch my toes. Thank you for giving me that ability, and I pray that you would show me others things I think are impossible that I can do!

What are you thankful for today? Leave a Comment and let me know, I’d love to read it!
