It rained a bit this afternoon/evening and around 7 o’clock there was the most beautiful rainbow across my backyard. I’ve always loved rainbows, they’re so beautiful and are such a wonderful reminder of God’s promises. Genesis 9:12-15 “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.”
I’ve seen quite a few rainbows in my life but there are two I remember the most. One was huge, it went from one side of the sky to the other over top of us, and you could see the whole thing except at the very top straight over head. The other was a triple rainbow I saw while in Denver, CO after a huge storm where Tornado sirens went off. Every time I see a rainbow in nature I think of Genesis 9, especially after a bad storm it’s such a wonderful reminder.
Day 129: Thank you Lord for rainbows, not only for their beauty but the reminder that you will never destroy the world with a flood again.
