#369: Senior Pastor

This weekend has been important in the history of my church, our Senior Pastor for the past ten years is stepping down from his role as Senior Pastor to let one of the other Pastors take over. Last night we had an event thanking our Senior Pastor for the past ten years, and today we installed our new Lead Pastor. Since I already wrote a post about my Pastors, I thought I would write one about the Senior Pastor.

While all Pastors are important, Senior Pastors have an even larger role. They’re the ones who lead the church, guiding and directing it; they’re also the one who usually preach the most, and set the tone for the church. I’ve had three Senior Pastors over the years before today, (ironically all three of their names rhyme even though they served at two different churches) each one was different, but I learned so much from each of them, and grew in my faith because of each one. Exciting things happened in the church because of each one’s leadership, and the church benefited from them. I am excited for what God has in store for my church through our new Pastor, and am looking forward to what will happen next!

#369: Thank you Lord for each of the Senior Pastors that I’ve had the privilege of being under. Each one has had their own impact on my life, and I was privileged to be part of their church.

#368: Returns

This past Christmas I got a couple of gifts that unfortunately I had to return because they didn’t fit, or I needed something a little bit different. I don’t like it when I have to return a gift, and I don’t do it very often, but when something doesn’t work, doesn’t fit, or is different from what I need, then returns are necessary. I’m glad I can return it if I need to and get something else instead, especially this year because one of the things I had to return I didn’t realize it was wrong until I opened it!

#368: Thank you Lord for returns, so if something doesn’t work out then we can return it and not have it sit around our house, and we can get something else.

#367: Cleaning and Maintenance People

I’ve been thinking about people and things we often take for granted, but things would be very different if they weren’t there. I know for me one of the main things I’ve thought about are the cleaning and maintenance people, especially at my job. Whenever the cleaning people come around and empty my trashcan I usually say thank you because I do appreciate it, especially if it’s really full. I wonder how many people in the office even truly notice all they do, I know I probably don’t.

When something’s dirty or broken the cleaning and maintenance people are the ones who have to fix it. If something’s dirty and I can clean it up I usually try to, but I know most people don’t, and there are times when it’s too big or I don’t have time to, and they have to clean or fix it. If they weren’t there everything would be broken or a complete mess, and/or people would have to spend time away from their work fixing it.

#367: Thank you Lord for cleaning and maintenance people, who do the things that need to be done so others can do what they need to do in a clean and safe environment.

#366: Work Fantasy Football League

First of all, Happy New Year! I hope you had a good new years and are enjoying 2014 so far. Even though I’ve finished my 365 Days of Thanks, I’m not going to stop writing about the things I’m grateful for. I won’t be posting every day, but I’m hoping for once a week, maybe more often as things come up, we’ll have to wait and see.

If you were following my blog last year you may remember I’m really into Fantasy Football. This football season I was in three leagues: one public, one with friends, and a work league. I did pretty well in the public league finishing second, and fifth in the friends league. The work league is a Pick’Em League where you pick the winner of each of the games each week, if you pick the most correct teams one week you win a jersey at my job, which I did last year towards the end of the season.

This year I wasn’t able to win a single week, but I did well enough that a few weeks into the season I was in second place overall. By the mid-point of the season I was in first place overall, which is where I finished the season. While I was frustrated that I didn’t win an individual week, I was SO excited that I won the whole thing! I won a Wal-Mart gift card, which I can definitely use more than a jersey.

#366: Thank you Lord for the work Fantasy Football league, I had so much fun doing it this year, and am glad I won something I can use.
