#378: Expedited Passport Renewal

My international trip this summer had to be pushed back 9 days and since you can’t leave the country with a passport that expires within 6 months, I had to get a new passport! (Who would’ve thought 9 days would just put me over?) Since we need our passports fairly soon to get our Visas I decided not to chance anything and get the expedited service, so I’d be sure to get it in 3 weeks instead of 4-6. I mailed in my form and nine days later I got a package in the mail with my new passport inside! I was absolutely amazed! Everything seems to be coming together for this trip for me so quickly and in unexpected ways, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen while we’re there!

#378: Thank you Lord for the Expedited Passport Renewal service, so I was able to get my passport so quickly and not have to worry about it!

#377: Paralympics

This afternoon I watched the NBC special on the Highlights of the 2014 Paralympics, and let me tell you I teared up at every story! No matter their disability or story each Paralympian is an inspiration! Like I said a in my post about the regular Olympics, I am a HUGE fan of the Olympics and watch them as much as I can. But I’ve never seen any of the Paralympics before and when I saw this special was airing I was really excited. I’ve heard stories of Paralympic athletes and seen pictures of them competing but I don’t think I’ve ever seen any actual footage before. You can hear about it, but seeing it is another thing! I loved the clip from the Opening Ceremonies that said “We show the world that what may seem impossible, IS possible!” I hope in years to come they’ll show more of the Parlympics on TV so we can all be inspired by these incredible athletes who’ve overcome so many challenges!

#377: Thank you Lord for the Paralympics so people with disabilities can compete just like regular athletes on the biggest stage in the world, and inspire everyone who watches them!

#376: 50/50 Raffle

Every payday (every other Friday) my workplace holds a 50/50 Raffle, where employees can buy tickets and half the money goes to several local kids’ charities and the other half goes to the person whose ticket is picked. It’s a great way to raise money for a good cause and if I’m in the office that day I usually buy a ticket.

This past Friday I bought my 6 tickets (they sell 1 for $1 or 6 for $5) as usual, hoping to win but not expecting to. About an hour later I heard someone call my name I turned around to see one of the HR people who handed me an envelope with “Winner” written across it. I had won the raffle! I was so excited, but in shock. I spent a lot of time thinking and praying about what I wanted to do with the money, and eventually decided to put it all towards my missions trip this summer. I think it’s so cool that God gave me this money right now and I can use it in this way for him!

#376: Thank you Lord for the 50/50 Raffle at work! I’m a little bit closer to raising the money I need for this summer, and I’m happy to be able to support great local charities along the way!

#375: Displays of God’s Glory

This past weekend I served at my church’s annual youth conference where the theme was “No Greater Glory.” Meaning that there is no greater glory than God’s, everything he does is for his glory, and we were created to show his glory. I’ve known these things for a long time, but it was wonderful to be reminded of them again. I like to be on the lookout for displays of his glory and am always glad when I notice them. I know they’re all around me but I don’t always pay attention to them. When I see them they remind me that God loves me, and I am thankful for so many reminders of it.

#375: Thank you Lord for the displays of your glory around me. Help me to see more of them and thank you for them.

#374: Responses to Support Letters

This summer I’ll be going on a missions trip that I am SO excited about! Naturally I sent out support letters asking for prayer support and if people felt led financial support as well. I mailed out the letters two weeks ago and I’ve been absolutely floored by the responses I’ve received so far. I know God is sovereign and will provide for our needs, but I never imagined that I would raise a little over half the money I need within a week of getting the first check! I’ve received checks from people who while I did send them a letter, I wasn’t sure if they could give me anything more than prayer support, while others have given me so much more than I thought they would. I still have a way to go with my support but I’m so excited about what God has done so far and I can’t wait to see what will happen next! I want to get my support raised so I can help the rest of the team raise theirs!

#374: Thank you Lord for the responses I’ve gotten so far for my trip this summer! I’m absolutely overwhelmed by how you’re providing for me and I can’t wait to see what will happen this summer!
