#419: My Demotion

Almost exactly a year ago I got demoted at work. It happened for a variety of reasons that I don’t want to go into here, but I’ll just say many of them were my own fault. It hurt a lot, and I was embarrassed to have to move to a new department. Within the next week or so several other things happened both at work and outside that brought me to a low point.

If you were following my blog last year and are wondering why I didn’t say anything here at the time it’s because I was having a hard time finding anything to be thankful for at the time related to the whole thing, (besides that I still had a job) and I was trying to get my mind off of it as much as possible. Now that a year has passed and I’ve had time to reflect on what happened I can honestly say that I’m grateful it happened. I learned a lot about myself during that time, and how I relate to others especially non-Christians. It’s something that I still need to work on and am trying to improve, but I feel I’m heading in the right direction and I know it probably would’ve never happened if I hadn’t been demoted.

#419: Thank you Lord for my demotion and how you used it in my life to teach me.

#418: People Remembering their Cell Phones

Over the weekend something I was going to was cancelled at the last-minute. I needed to get in touch with someone else so they’d know not to go, after calling them three times and texting once I wasn’t able to get in touch with them. I knew they had to go somewhere else beforehand, and as I found out later, they accidentally left their cell phone at home. Unfortunately as a result they drove all the way to the other side of town only to discover it’d been cancelled. I know I did everything I could to get in touch with them, but I still feel bad that they drove all the way over there when they didn’t need to. I have a feeling they won’t forget their cell phone again for a while!

#418: Thank you Lord for when people remember their cell phones when they go out. It makes getting in touch with them so much easier!

#417: My First Church

Twice in the past week I’ve gotten to hear my very first pastor preach for the first time since I was really little. (Not that I remember any of those sermons) It was wonderful to see him again and hear him speak. Hearing him speak got me thinking about the first church I attended where he pastored. It was small, met at a local high school, disbanded not too long after my family left and I only have vague memories of it, but it amazing the impact it had on my life.

-My family met several long-time friends at this church, and it’s amazing how many times we randomly run into people who attended the church, it’s always great to catch up with them.
-The church had a missions orientation and I’ve had a heart for missions for as long as I can remember, so I know it must’ve started there.
-After hearing this pastor speak the first time I talked to my dad about it and he reminded me how the pastor’s wife got the kids of the church memorizing Bible verses at an early age, which I’d forgotten, but I still remember some of those verses!

#417: Thank you Lord for my first church the huge long lasting impact it’s had on my life.

#416: 2014

Happy New Year! I can’t believe 2014 is over already. 2014 was certainly an interesting year for me; full of ups and downs, like most years. I learned a lot about myself, something I’ve only fully realized recently and which will probably be the subject of an upcoming post. I got to travel to a place that I love again, and had some cool experiences. I’m excited for 2015 and what God has in store for me, but I’m also glad for the adventures of 2014.

#415: Thank you Lord for 2014 and all that happened to me. I’m grateful for what you’ve taught me and all the things I got to experience.
