Day 224: New Dishwasher

Over the weekend we got our new dishwasher, and I’m so glad! While I don’t exactly mind hand washing small amounts of dishes I really don’t like washing lots of them. It’s so nice to be able to wash all those dishes at the same time without having to stand there and wash them.

Day 224: Thank you Lord for our new dishwasher, it makes washing dishes so much easier and less time-consuming!

Day 215: Dishwashing Soap

Our dishwasher caught fire this morning, we don’t know exactly why but it’s at least 11 years old. Fortunately someone was standing right there when it happened. Nothing was damaged as far as we know, but the whole house smells like burnt plastic or rubber. But now we can’t use our dishwasher and have to wash everything by hand. I really don’t like washing dishes by hand but when I do I’m so thankful for dishwashing soap because I don’t know what I’d do without it!

Day 184: Air Conditioning Repairmen

When I arrived at work this morning I noticed it was a bit warmer than usual inside the building, but because of the heat outside I didn’t think too much about it at the time. Around lunchtime I realized that it MUCH warmer than usual, and while the air conditioner was running it wasn’t at full strength. I have a fairly high heat tolerance, but at one point it got so warm in the building that I didn’t know how much longer I could stand it. (The temperature got up to the high 80’s at least) Fortunately right about then was when the air conditioning kicked back in. I was SO thankful right then for whoever fixed it!

Day 184: Thank you Lord for air conditioning repairmen who fix it when we need it so we don’t have to suffer in the heat!

Day 166: Clothes Washer

I had to do laundry today, not one of my favorite chores but a necessary one. When I think about how people used to wash clothes and how much hard work they had to put into it, I’m very glad for washing machines. Not that I’m lazy but it was a lot of work to hand scrub all their clothes, and took a long time when you add in line drying them. Even after all that work I seriously doubt they were as clean as when they’re done today.

Day 166: Thank you Lord for clothes washers, so make cleaning our clothes so much easier!

Day 63: Dishwasher

For almost as long as I can remember one of my chores has been to empty and load the dishwasher. I’ve been doing it so long now I have a system for how I unload and reload everything, and where I put everything. I can do it quickly and efficiently.

I’ve never really liked hand washing dishes or pots and pans, but I’ll do it if I have to. If something can go in the dishwasher and there’s room for it, I’ll usually put it in. Because of this I never really appreciated the convenience of having a dishwasher until I lived with my friend’s family for 2 1/2 months, no dishwasher for 12 people! (Counting me) I would usually help hand wash or dry the dishes when someone was doing them. Then one time I volunteered to wash the entire sink of dishes, it took me more than an hour! After that I said I would never complain about having to do dishes again, either in the dishwasher or by hand!

Day 63: Thank you Lord for dishwashers, so we don’t have to spend so much time washing dishes.
