Day 364: This Year with My Blog

I can’t believe tomorrow is the 365th Day of my Blog! It’s been an amazing year, and I’ve become a more grateful person as a result of writing this blog. Some days it’s been really easy to find something to be thankful for, while others it’s been really hard. But I wouldn’t change this year for anything! I’m glad I’ve had this experience and I’m excited to keep going here, and see what God has in store for me! Even though I won’t be writing everyday I think it’ll be good to keep it up. I can think of a number of things that I’m grateful for that I didn’t write about this year for one reason or another, and I’m sure there’ll be other things that I haven’t even thought of! So keep checking back in 2014 and continue this journey with me!

Day 364: Thank you Lord for the year I’ve spent writing this blog! It’s been an amazing experience and I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned this year!

Day 363: My Blog Readers

Since the year is almost over, which means an end to my daily posts (don’t worry I’m going to keep writing, just not every day) I thought it was about time to write a post about YOU my blog readers! When I first started this blog to be honest I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to read it; I hoped they would but if they didn’t that was ok with me. This has been more of a personal journey for me this year, having to find something to be grateful for each day, it hasn’t been easy but I’ve been able to find something each day.

From the first day I posted each of posts on Facebook so my friends could read my blog and go on this journey with me, as far as I know most of my readers do know me personally, but I know that’s not all of you. However you came across my blog whether it was early on this year or late, if you read it every day or here and there, I want to thank each of you for reading my blog and going on this journey with me. I hope you’ve been encouraged by what you’ve read here and become a more grateful person, like I have. Thank you for all of your encouragement and support this year, whether it’s been by just coming back to my blog, writing a comment, or telling me in person, it’s helped me continue on all year. I’m sad to see this year end, and that’s why I’m going to keep writing this blog I just don’t have the time to do it everyday anymore.

Day 363: Thank you Lord for my blog readers and all the encouragement I’ve received from them this year! May each of them be as blessed by this experience as I have.

Day 348: Days when it’s been hard to find something to be grateful for

As the year draws to a close it’s not always easy to find something to be grateful for, especially since I said from the beginning I wouldn’t have any repeats. Today is one of those days. This morning I was all excited because I had all of these plans, but almost nothing turned out the way I had thought/planned. While nothing bad happened today was a bit disappointing, and when I turned on my computer tonight to write my blog I sat here for a while trying to think of something, but the only things I did think about were either things I had already written about or I felt too depressed to write about it at the moment and couldn’t do it justice.

That got me thinking back on this year and my blog. I’ve had some really exciting days and it’s been really easy to find something to be thankful for, but there’ve been others like today when it’s been really hard. I’ve always managed to find something even if it’s completely unrelated to what happened that day. Do I wish that every day it was easy to find something? Of course! But I think the hard days have helped me to grow this year, I really have become a more grateful person because of writing this blog and it’s not because of the easy days, it’s because of the hard days when I’ve really had to think about what I’m thankful for.

Day 348: Thank you Lord for the days this year when it’s been hard to find something to be grateful for, I’ve really grown because of them, and become much more grateful as a result.

Day 328: Sharing about My Blog

During church this morning I had the opportunity to share a testimony about my blog. I talked about how this experience has taught me to give thanks in ALL circumstances, I’ve become disciplined by having to write everyday, and I’ve come to realize that while I’m not very comfortable sharing my faith verbally I am VERY comfortable writing about it. I also encouraged everyone to make a list of the things they’re grateful for, not just the big obvious ones, and to thank God for them, then tell the people on their list that they’re grateful for them and why, in person, on the phone, or write them a thank you note.

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to share about my blog with my church family. Just as I pray that every post I write will bless everyone who reads it, I pray that my testimony will bless everyone who heard it. I don’t know if anyone will follow through with my suggestion, and even if they do there’s no guarantee I’ll hear about it, but I hope they do!

Day 328: Thank you Lord for the opportunity I had today to share about my blog in church. May it serve as a blessing and encouragement to everyone who heard it.

Day 203: My Top Blog Posts

Today’s Daily Prompt is to look at your most popular blog posts and write about why they’ve been so successful.

Besides my home page my two top posts have an equal number of views, and were posted a week a part. I know exactly why Day 131 and Day 124 have been so popular because they’re connected. On May 4 (Day 124) Mr Tom the dad of one of my closest friends was killed, and that day’s post about Heaven was probably the hardest one I’ve had to write so far. Day 131 was the day of the funeral and the anniversary of Tim, another friend’s, death; that tribute post to both men was another difficult one to write. I posted links to both of these posts all over Facebook where I knew people connected with these death’s would see and hopefully read them. I pray these posts were able to minister to everyone who read them. They weren’t easy for me to write, but writing them helped me in my grief.

My third most popular post has no connection whatsoever to the other two, or what happened on the day it was posted, Superbowl Sunday. On Day 34 I wrote about Courtney Hicks, an American Figure Skater who chose to skate to a Christian song at the exhibition for US Nationals. Even now five months after I posted this I still occasionally get hits on this post from people googling her, which I think is pretty awesome! I’d really like to hear from one of them about why they’re googling her. In contrast to the above posts this was one of the easier posts I’ve written because I was so impressed that she would choose a song like that, and hope that other Christian skaters will do the same. (I still don’t know for sure whether or not she is a Christian, if anyone does know can you please let me know!) I pray another skater will read that post and as a result chose a Christian song as their exhibition music.

Day 203: Thank you Lord for my top blog posts, thank you for the circumstances that prompted me to write them, though they weren’t easy. I pray that each of them were able touch the people who read them, and encourage them.

Day 187: My (dis)abled Life blog/Liebster Award

I don’t follow that many other blogs but one I’ve started following recently is My (Dis)abled Life written by Ali who also has Cerebral Palsy. It’s neat for me to read about someone else with the same disability as I do, though I have a milder form of it. It gives me a bit of a different perspective on my own struggles. Ali nominated me for the Liebster Award (Thank you Ali) and below is my entry. If I could nominate her for this award I would.

Day 187: Thank you Lord for My (Dis)abled Life blog and how much it’s inspired me! And Ali for nominating me for this award!
