Day 301: Not Complaining

There’s a co-worker who sits near me who I hear complaining about something every single day. (I seriously think this person could not go through the day without complaining about something) Frankly its become VERY annoying! Ok, I will say that a few of the things they complain about are justifiable, but for the most part they aren’t. Having to listen to this person constantly complaining has helped me realize that while there are times when complaints are justifiable and necessary, most of the time they aren’t.

When I feel like complaining about something I try to remember Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without grumbling or disputing.” It’s so easy to complain or grumble when things aren’t turning out the way we want them to, but we can’t always have things our way. We often waste so much time complaining that we waste time that we could be doing the very things we’re complaining about and then we could be doing something else.

Day 301: Thank you Lord for times when I and other people could easily complain and don’t, it makes things so much simpler, and saves time and energy.

Day 252: People who hold the door open for you

I was thinking today about things that we often automatically say “Thank You” for, but how often do we actually mean it? I know for me a big one in this category is when someone holds the door open for me. It’s something that seems to be pretty common and I always thank the person but it usually comes out automatically, and I do it for other people too. The more I think about it holding the door open for someone isn’t something anyone HAS to do, most people are capable of opening it themselves unless their hands are completely full, but people do it to be nice and to help someone out. For me when it’s a man it’s a true sign of a gentleman when they hold it for a lady.

Day 252: Thank you Lord for people who hold the door open for me, it’s so nice of them, and please make thanking the person never be so automatic for me that I don’t really mean it.
