#425: A Bad Week (Now and Then)

I had a really rough week last week emotionally due to several different circumstances. I had some awesome highs and some tough lows. By Friday I was exhausted and ready for the weekend. Now that I’ve had some time to reflect on what happened last week, I’ve realized that God is using the bad things that happened to teach me about life and myself. I wish every week was a good one, but I know life isn’t like that. We need some bad ones to grow our character and to teach us lessons. I don’t want to have a bad week every week. (I don’t think I could handle it) I’ll take one here and there if it’ll help me in the end.

#425: Thank you Lord for giving me a bad week here and there. I want to grow as a person and if that’s what I need I’ll take it. Help me to learn what you’re trying to teach me through the circumstances and apply it.

Day 335: Nothing to Fear

I’ve struggled with anxiety and often irrational fears for several years now, and let me tell you it’s not fun. When things are uncertain I can become worried and anxious, and if it goes too far or too long I become fearful. While it’s rarely a paralyzing fear I can become hesitant. The sermon at church this morning was about fearing God and keeping his commands, and while there were many applications the one that really stuck with me came towards the end, that if we fear God we don’t need to concern ourselves about any other fears. I can’t tell you how liberating this was for me! I know God is in Control, but when I get really fearful it’s hard for me to remember. If I fear God and follow him I don’t have any reason to fear.

Day 335: Thank you Lord that I have nothing to fear besides you, help me to remember that when I become fearful and worried.

Day 275: Patience

I’m sure we’ve all heard the phrase “patience is a virtue” and I think it’s true. It’s not always easy to be patient when you’re waiting for something to happen, or someone to do something. I know I’m not always patient, I try to be, but it isn’t always easy especially when I have to wait a long time. I always appreciate it when people are patient with my and try to extend the same curtsy. It’s also one of the fruits of the spirit, so Christians should show it especially. If you want to be kind to other people you need to be patient with them and not get angry with them, hopefully they’ll be patient with you.

Day 275: Thank you Lord for patience so we don’t get angry or upset with others and show them respect.
