#407: Making it Safely to Vote

If you live in the US I hope you’re voting today! We are so fortunate to be able to choose our leaders unlike other places in the world. Since I already wrote a post about voting that’s all I’m going to say about that here; I must say I am a little more grateful that I was able to vote today. On the way to vote I came VERY close to getting in two accidents. But thankfully I made it safely and was able to cast my ballot. Now I just have to wait and see if the people I voted for are elected.

#407: Thank you Lord that I made it safely to vote today. It’s something we often take for granted, but I have a greater appreciation for it today!

#390: Voting in Elections

Tomorrow is the Primary Election in my state for Governor and several other offices, and as usual I’ll be heading to the polls. I haven’t missed voting in an election, regular or primary, since I turned 18; even the one when I was out of the country, I voted by absentee. I’m so grateful that we have a say in who runs our country, state, etc. Even if we don’t like the people in office at least we can had a role in putting them there. I really don’t think you have a right complain about or praise our government unless you voted. (unless of course you aren’t old enough to vote yet) Everyone should care about what goes on in our government because whether we like it or not, or realize it what they do affects us. So I’d like to encourage you to vote tomorrow or whenever your Primary election is as well as in November for the General election.

#390: Thank you Lord that we can vote in elections and decide who makes the decisions in government that affect not only us but everyone around us.

Please note, I’ll be out of the country next week and won’t be able to access my blog. But I should be back the following week with a whole bunch of things I’m grateful for!

#386: Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! There are a lot of things I could say about this holiday, like it’s nice to have a day off from work, etc. which are all true, but that’s not what this holiday is all about. It’s about remembering the men and women who died defending our country so we could remain free. They paid the ultimate price and we should never forget them or take our freedom for granted. We would not be here today if it weren’t for their sacrifice and it’s wonderful to have a day to remember it every year, so we cannot forget it.

#386: Thank you Lord for Memorial Day so we as Americans can remember the men and women who gave their lives for our country so we can be free. May we never forget it or take it for granted.

Day 315: Veterans

Happy Veterans Day! Today in the US we celebrate the men and women who fought and died for our country and our freedom. No matter what your political views you can’t deny that our country would not be what it is today if not for the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces and keep us safe. It can be easy to forget them or downplay their significance, and that’s why I’m glad we have a day to celebrate, remember and thank them for their service and sacrifice. I for one feel safer knowing that we are being protected by these brave men and women.

Day 315: Thank you Lord for the Veterans of the US military, and their sacrifices to keep us safe.

Day 254: The Heroes of 9/11

12 years ago today life in the US was forever changed by the Terrorist attacks in New York and DC. I still remember the exact spot in my house where I was standing that morning when my mom yelled to me “They Blew Up the Pentagon!” (Yes her information was a little off) I spent the rest of the day in a daze, I don’t think I got anything done that day. Living so close to DC and having just been in NYC in June with plans to return in a month it was a terrifying day for me, and one I will never forget.

One of the things I remember the most about the days following 9/11 is hearing the stories of all the heroes from that day. The firefighters and policemen, but especially the people on Flight 93 that crashed in PA who were able to stop the terrorists and save so many lives. So many lives were lost that day, but so many were saved by those heroes.

Day 254: Thank you Lord for the heroes of 9/11 the firefighters, police and ordinary people. Thank you for their example of putting others above themselves and the lives they saved that day.
