#426: Beachmont Christian Camp

Friday night I attended Beachmont Christian Camp’s 40th Anniversary dinner. It was a wonderful evening celebrating God’s faithfulness and all he has done through the camp. Afterwards I realized that I’ve written posts about specific programs at Beachmont, but never a general one. That is changing right now, because it is WAY overdue!

Beachmont has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of being at camp, doing Arts and Crafts in the old barn. I started going to Beachmont as a camper at age 3, and it’s been part of my life ever since. After growing too old to be a camper I graduated to a Junior Counselor, and eventually served on Senior Staff for three summers teaching Arts and Crafts. I still serve today during the fall volunteering with the Corn Maze. Not to mention attending countless Teen Nights, going to a few Easter Sunrise services, Live Nativities, and Fall round-ups, as well as briefly attending their Homeschool Phys Ed Program, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something.

Beachmont is one of my favorite places in the world. You can’t go there and not feel God’s presence there in so many ways. There are so many fun activities to do, and awesome people to meet. I’ve made some life-long friends through camp.

I feel like I grew up at Beachmont, both physically and spiritually. Mr Paul and Ms Maureen have taught me so much over the years spiritually. I know I wouldn’t have the faith I have today without their influence in my life. I can’t imagine my life without Beachmont and I know I wouldn’t be the person I am today with it.

#426: Thank you Lord for Beachmont and the huge influence it’s had on my life. Continue to bless it and use it to touch lives for many years to come.

#396: Ordering books from the library

I’ve written several posts about how much I love and use the library, but I appreciate it so much that I don’t think I can say enough about it. While I enjoy going to the library and searching the shelves for books I want to check out it can be frustrating when I can’t find something I want. That’s why I’m so glad I can order books from other branches in our library system. I do it all the time and wait for it to come in so I can dig in and read it. If there’s a book coming out that I want to read I’ll pre-order that so I can get it when it comes out.

#396: Thank you Lord that I can order the books I want from the library so I don’t have to spend money on them or go to another branch to pick them up.

Day 312: Beachmont’s Corn Maze

Last fall and for the past month and a half I’ve spent my Friday and/or Saturday nights volunteering at the corn maze at Beachmont Christian Camp. I’ve had so much fun being there each week and interacting with the guests and other volunteers that I’m sad this is the last weekend for this year. I’ve gotten to know some pretty awesome people who also volunteer, and have had some pretty interesting interactions with some of the guests. The theme of this year’s maze has been the Ravens and the Oriels and it’s been fun to see people get excited about going into the maze as well as when they come out. (I can’t wait to see what next year’s theme is going to be!) I’ve really enjoyed this year working at different stations and doing different things, it makes the night even more interesting and fun.

Day 312: Thank you Lord for Beachmont’s Corn Maze and that I’ve been able to volunteer there this year. Thank you for the relationships I’ve been able to build and the people I’ve been able to help.

Day 250: Mazes

Tonight I went through my very first corn maze and had a great time! I like mazes both on paper and in real life, it’s so much fun to try to find your way through it, and a good exercise in problem solving, trying to figure out which way to go. A maze done on paper can be fun, but to me it’s often too easy because you can look at the whole picture all the time. Physical mazes are much more challenging and more fun because you have to finish them in order to get out, and you can do it with other people which is always fun!

Day 250: Thank you Lord for mazes, they’re so much fun and a challenge!

Day 237: Super Wal-Mart

I had to go to Wal-Mart today and do some shopping, and I ended up going to the one close to where I was at the time. HUGE MISTAKE! I wasn’t thinking that tomorrow is the first day of school, and the place was PACKED! It was worse than Christmas! Plus they didn’t have what I wanted.

I ended up going to the Super Wal-Mart near my house and it was MUCH better! There were probably the same amount of people but because it was so big it wasn’t nearly as crowded. Plus they had what I wanted.

I love shopping at Wal-Mart, especially the Super Wal-Mart near me. You can go in there and find almost anything you need, and often times at a much lower price than anywhere else. I do most of my food shopping there and depending on what I’m getting I usually don’t have to go anywhere else.

Day 237: Thank you Lord for Wal-Mart and Super Wal-Mart, and all the stuff they have there at such reasonable prices.

Day 211: Sam’s Club

I really like shopping at Sam’s Club, there’s so much stuff there. I’ve discovered so many different foods I love there, especially in the frozen section, that I’ve never seen anywhere else. I love going there and getting the free samples they always have, some days they have so many choices you could almost have a full meal. I always stop and look at the books while I’m there, sometimes I get one sometimes I don’t, I’ve gotten quite a few books that I’ve loved there, and cheaper than a lot of other places. Recently I’ve started looking at the clothes too, I’ve found quite a few tops that I love there.

Day 211: Thank you Lord for Sam’s Club and all the stuff they have there!

Day 196: Christian Bookstores

I like going to Christian bookstores to buy books. While you can buy Christian books in pretty much any bookstore nowadays they usually have a fairly limited selection. Of course you can always buy them online or get an eBook but I like to support actual stores as much as I can, especially if they’re owned by Christians. Our Christian Bookstore is on the other side of town, but whenever I go over there I like to go in and pick up a book or two. They always have so many good books to choose from its hard to decide what to get, and I almost always come out with more than I planned to buy but I don’t mind because I’m supporting God’s work.

Day 196: Thank you Lord for Christian bookstores where I can buy books that glorify you!
