Day 234: Fast Food

After leaving work today I planned to run a couple of quick errands, then head home for dinner before going to a meeting. The errands however, took MUCH longer than I expected and I realized I didn’t have time to go home for dinner. Fortunately there was a fast food place right on the way to the meeting so I stopped there for dinner. I really enjoy fast food, yes it may not be the healthiest food in the world, but I don’t eat it too often and I love the way it tastes! AND it’s nice when you’re in a hurry and need to grab a quick bite.

Day 234: Thank you Lord for fast food, it’s so nice when I’m out and in a hurry to be able to get something quick to eat.

Day 227: Cracker Barrel

One of my favorite places to eat is Cracker Barrel! Their food is so good and tastes homemade. When you’re there you feel like you’re in the South. I wish I could eat there more often but the closest one is a half hour away. Whenever we’re on vacation and there’s one close we always go there to eat. My favorite dish is the smothered chicken with chicken, bacon and covered with cheese, but since it’s on the low carb menu not every one has it. Their sides are so good too! I usually get the corn and mashed potatoes. Everything there is so good that’s why the wait is so long! It’s fun to look around the store while you wait or sit out in the front porch in a rocker.

Day 227: Thank you Lord for Cracker Barrel and their wonderful food!

Day 137: Panera’s

I love going out to eat, no matter where I go I can almost always find something on the menu I like. I end up eating quite a bit of fast food, because it’s the least expensive. However if I want something nicer I like going to Panera Bread.

I love the food at Panera’s! I have my favorite sandwich, though they no longer have my two all-time favorites. The past few times I’ve gone I’ve gotten their soups in a bread bowl which I really enjoy as well. I love tearing off the bread and eating my soup with it, it adds so much to the soup.

I enjoy the atmosphere at Panera too, it’s so relaxed. I find it interesting how people use it to have informal meetings or work on their laptops. While I rarely use it for that it’s nice to know there’s a place to go if you need it.

Day 137: Thank you Lord for Panera Bread, for their great food and relaxed atmosphere.

Day 85: Rita’s Italian Ice

For as long as I can remember I’ve LOVED snowballs in the summer. On a hot day they’re such a great way to cool off. I still love snowballs but I also love Italian Ice, but only from the Rita’s Italian Ice chain. (I’m sorry but the little cups you can buy in the grocery store are just pathetic in taste and quality)

I got my first Rita’s of the year today: a Blue Raspberry Gelati, and it was SO good! That’s what I love about Rita’s they’re open so much more of the year than a snowball stand, and you can get Custard with it! I always get a Gelati (Italian ice with Custard on the top and bottom) always Vanilla custard, unless they have strawberry, but I like to vary the ice flavor, I usually stick with the fruits though I have started venturing out with the more ice cream themed flavors.

A few years ago I had a temp job at a company that develops flavors for food products for other companies and at the time they were doing some work for Rita’s. I was in heaven! When the woman in charge of the project learned how much I loved Rita’s when she was having people try the flavors and give their opinions on them she would call me in to give my opinion. When the project was completely over she gave me a leftover container of my favorite flavor.

Day 85: Thank you Lord for the delicious food at Rita’s Italian Ice.

Day 66: Dutch Market

Near my work there’s a Pennsylvania Dutch Market. Amish come down from PA three days a week and have this indoor market. You can buy a wide variety of food items from pre-cooked to fresh, as well as craft items; they also have a couple small restaurants. My family has gotten bacon there for years and its SO much better than anything you can buy in the store. Since I read a lot of Amish fiction, it’s neat for me to go there and interact with actual Amish.

When the Market first opened years ago my family went there for dinner one night and I remember having a hard time finding something I liked. Recently a couple of my co-workers have started going there occasionally for lunch and they invited me to go with them. After they raved about something they get there I wanted to try it too, and now I can’t get enough of it!

What is it? It’s a hotdog inside a pretzel with cheese. It tastes incredible! It reminds me of something similar I had at Disney World, but this is even better! (And much closer!)

Day 66: Thank you Lord for the Dutch Market, not only for their incredible food, but the opportunity to interact with the Amish without going to PA.

Day 49: Chic-fil-a

“Chic-fil-a, I could eat there seven times a day, where the people laugh and children play. Oh I’m in love with Chic-fil-a.” -Tim Hawkins “Chic-fil-a Song”

Ok, maybe I’m not as obsessed with Chic-fil-a as comedian Tim Hawkins, but I do love Chic-fil-a! It’s one of my favorite fast food restaurants, but it’s probably the only fast food place where I don’t get their fries, sorry I just don’t like waffle fries. For almost as long as I can remember I’ve LOVED their chicken nuggets, lemonade, and honey mustard. A friend of mine recently introduced me to their Chic-fil-a sauce and I love it even more than their honey mustard; (which is REALLY saying something) as well as their chocolate chip cookies which I think are amazing!

Aside from their food I appreciate the fact that they stand up for their Christian values and beliefs. How many restaurants out there close on Sundays? And their recent stand on gay marriage is truly impressive. They refuse to cave to cultural influences around them, and serve as a witness to the world.

Day 49: Thank you Lord for Chic-fil-a, not only for their amazing food, but for the way their beliefs stand out as witness to the world. Continue to bless them, and may they never back down from their stand.
