#408: Authors on Facebook

I’m a fan of most of the authors whose books I read on Facebook. I really enjoy seeing what’s going on in their lives, learning more about their books and finding out about events they’re hosting. I have a side job writing book reviews on another website and I like to post the links to my reviews on that author’s page, so they and other fans can read them. Both of these facts came together in a cool way last week. An author posted a pic of some advanced copies of their next book which comes out in March, and I half jokingly commented “I write book reviews can I get one of those?” I was surprised and excited when she messaged me back and said yes. I got the book in the mail today and I can’t wait to read and review it!

#408: Thank you Lord that authors I read are on Facebook. Not only because I got the book today but I like being able to get a peak into their lives.

Day 350: Prayer Requests on Facebook

For the past few days I’ve been following updates on Facebook about someone I know who recently had surgery and their recovery isn’t going well at all. While it’s a difficult situation it’s great to be able to get lots of updates so I know how to pray for them and what’s going on at the moment. I really appreciate it when people post prayer requests on Facebook, it’s nice to know what’s going on in someone’s life and to be able to pray for them. I occasionally post them myself if something’s going on in my life that I need prayer for, there’ve been a couple of times when I’ve been in a situation and literally felt people’s prayers and I know they’re praying for me because of what I posted, and I’m so grateful for them.

Day 350: Thank you Lord for prayer requests on Facebook, it’s so wonderful to be able to pray for people and have people pray for you too!

Day 339: “Just CP” Facebook Group

While I have Cerebral Palsy I’ve never had many interactions with other people with CP, except a couple of people who have it so severely they can’t speak. Since it wasn’t till a few years ago that I even felt comfortable around people with disabilities it never bothered me too much. I’ve also had very little interest in finding out more about CP until recently.

Back in October I was looking around on Facebook and found a group for people with CP which I joined and I can’t tell you how much it’s benefited me. There are people in this group from all over the world on every part of the spectrum of CP. I’ve learned so much from them already about what life can be like, as I get older and what it’s like to have a more severe form than I do. Some of the things I’ve learned have helped while others have worried me, but I believe it will all benefit me in the end, and it’s nice to be able to talk and discuss stuff with people who know exactly what I’m experiencing.

Day 339: Thank you Lord for the “Just CP” Facebook group, everything I’ve learned since joining and the interactions I’ve had there.

Day 314: 30 Days of Thanks

If you go on Facebook during the month of November, it seems like you can’t avoid it. People are giving thanks all over the place! If you don’t know what I’m talking about let me explain: for the past few years on Facebook, people use the month of November to write status’ on 30 days of Thanks, where each day they write about something they’re thankful for. (I will admit that this is what helped give me the idea for this blog last year) I love reading these posts, especially this year, it’s fun to see what other people are thankful for, and may give me some ideas for future blog posts. It’s wonderful to see other people sharing in a similar experience to what I’ve done this year!

Day 314: Thank you Lord for 30 Days of Thanks on Facebook for helping inspire my blog, and for how it helps others be more grateful!

Day 302: Improv Everywhere

I go on youtube almost every day, mainly to watch videos of TV shows I enjoy, but there are a couple solely youtube channels I enjoy watching. Improv Everywhere is probably my favorite! I love watching their videos and seeing what they’re going to do next to surprise people out in public.

I would love to participate in one of their “missions” one day and/or come across one. I’m particularly enjoying their current project where they reenact scenes from movies in real life! I was happy when the video they posted from this series on my birthday was from one of my 3 favorite movies “The Fellowship of the Ring.”

I always laugh at their videos and think they’re awesome, but probably my 2 favorites are ones where they actually helped someone. The first is when they staged a surprise wedding reception for a random couple who got married at the courthouse. I think this was such a wonderful idea, and the couple really seemed to enjoy/appreciate it!

Another video I really loved took place on Black Friday last year. They camped out in front of a Dollar Store before it opened, then went in and bought stuff. I thought this was such a wonderful idea, and the store owner was so surprised and seemed to really appreciate the business.

Day 302: Thank you Lord for Improv Everywhere, and how they always brighten my day when I watch one of their videos!

Day 297: eTickets

Today I booked my ticket online for a trip I’m taking in December, and when given the choice of picking up my ticket or getting an eTicket, I chose the eTicket. I think eTickets are pretty awesome! It seems like you can get them for any event that you can purchase online, from the theater, to movies, to travel. It’s so convenient, you don’t have to worry about standing in line when you get there to pick up or purchase your ticket, and if you lose it you can always print out another! If it’s an option I usually take the eTicket especially when I travel, it’s so large it’s hard to lose!

Day 297: Thank you Lord for eTickets, they make purchasing and keeping your ticket so much easier!

Day 288: Facebook Birthday Posts

I’ve written “Thanks!” on Facebook about 40 times today, because… Today’s my birthday! [Pause so you can scroll down and wish me a happy birthday if you want to 😉 ] I really like reading people’s “Happy Birthday” posts on my Facebook page, it makes me feel special, and not forgotten on my special day. I also feel like people are celebrating with me from afar. I also like posting on other people’s walls on their birthdays, so I can celebrate with them too!

Day 288: Thank you Lord for people posting birthday messages on Facebook, so I can celebrate my birthday with friends all over the place!
