Day 284: Being Facebook Friends with my Co-workers

I’m Facebook friends with a few of my co-workers. It’s nice to be able to see their vacation pics when they go away, and if I’m off sometimes they post status’ or send me messages about stuff I missed. Some of them work earlier shifts than I do and because I usually get on Facebook before I go to work sometimes I learn something I need to know before I leave. Today is a good example, one of my co-workers posted that there was a major accident one of the streets I take to go to work, that would affect traffic no matter which way I went. It was nice because I knew I needed to hurry up and get ready to go and to avoid that road.

Day 284: Thank you Lord that I’m Facebook friends with some of my co-workers so I can see what’s going on in their lives, and learn important info before I get to work.

Day 282: Walter Football

I did a post a little while ago about how I do Fantasy Football. Well it’s week 6 this weekend and I’m doing REALLY well! I’m in 1st place in one of my regular leagues, (6th in the other) and 3rd overall in the Pick ‘Em league! I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the best at Fantasy Football, (the past 2 years are proof of that) but I try my best and each year I learn something new.

I can’t keep track of the all the players, (who to play, who to bench, who to drop, who to pick up) and while it’s a bit easier to keep track of all the teams records, I like to get advice on who to pick each week. So each week when I’m setting up my team and picks for the week, I go on WalterFootball.com, and see what they say on all those points. It’s always a big help, and I’m so glad it’s there to help me!

Day 282: Thank you Lord for Walter Football, it’s such a big help to me with Fantasy Football!

Day 244: Video Chatting

During church today we Skyped someone from our church who’s currently in another country. It was so cool to be able to hear their voice, see them and hear about what they’ve been doing. Then this evening I Facebook Video Chatted with someone on the other side of the country. We had some technical problems that ended our conversation but it was fun for the brief time it worked.

I haven’t used video chat very often (since I don’t Skype) but I think it’s pretty amazing that you can talk face to face with someone anywhere in the world right on your computer screen! It’s an awesome way to be able to communicate over a long distance, and can be a lot of fun!

Day 244: Thank you Lord for video chatting so we can communicate with people far away and be able to see their face!

Day 236: Fantasy Football

I had the draft for one of my Fantasy Football leagues today and I can’t tell you how excited I am for Football Season! I love watching football and playing Fantasy Football makes the game so much more exciting for me. I pay so much more attention to the games and the players and when I talk with people about football I actually know something about teams other than the Ravens.

I’ve done Fantasy Football for the past few years and the first couple years I actually did pretty well, coming in second place the first two years. But as time has gone on I haven’t done as well, mainly because each year I’ve had problems with a certain position. I learn something new every year though and I apply it the next year. I don’t want to stop, I have too much fun each year!

Last year I did three leagues two regular and one Pick-Em run by the company I work for where I came in first one week and won a jersey! I really enjoyed the Pick-Em league it made things really interesting and provided something fun to talk about at work. I haven’t heard yet whether or not they’re doing it again this year but I definitely want to do it again!

Day 236: Thank you Lord for Fantasy Football! It’s so much fun for me to play, and helps me understand and pay more attention to football so I can discuss it with people, as well as helping me enjoy it more.

Day 208: Google

Almost every day I use one website: Google. Because there are few days when I don’t need to look something up. Certainly if I know the website address I type it in, but that isn’t always the case.

Do you use Google? Everyone I know seems to use it. Forget about Yahoo or Bing. Give it a try if you haven’t already, you won’t be sorry. Have fun and look something strange up on it.

I don’t just use it to look up websites, because there’s so much more to the Google website. Just go on and take a look at the top bar. Keep up with what’s going on in the world with Google News. Look up where something is with Google Maps, and get directions to get there too. Make sure something in another language means what you think it does with Google Translate. Need an e-mail address? Open a Gmail account. Photos on the web are easy to find with Google Images.

Quick I need to know something right now! Relax, Google will have the answer. Sure enough, I just type it in and there it is. Thank you Lord, I don’t know what I’d do without it!

Usually if I didn’t have Google I’d feel lost when it comes to finding stuff online. Varieties of website you’ve never heard of before can be found there. Whatever you need from people to places to things, you can find using Google. Xeroxes to plants. Yarn to computers. Zebras to apples.

Day 208: Thank you Lord for Google and all the info you can find there, and how it helps me almost daily.

Written for today’s Daily Prompt.

Day 191: PayPal

A while back I mentioned in a post that I really like being able to use PayPal when I shop online. Today I had pay for something online and the website I was using was the first I’ve used in a long time that didn’t have a PayPal option. I was very surprised, because it seems like almost every website nowadays has the PayPal option when it comes to paying for something. I don’t mind paying by credit card online but it’s so much easier to be able to login and pay without having to go get something and enter it in. I feel more secure paying with PayPal too.

Day 191: Thank you Lord for PayPal it’s such an easy way to pay when shopping online.

Day 133: Online Videos

For the past week or so I’ve desperately been in need of distractions, and I’ve been able to find them in a variety of places. During the past few days one of the best has been watching videos online. I’ll go on youtube, facebook, or a news website and if I see a video I’m interested in I’ll watch it. I’ve watched clips of tv shows or movies that I haven’t seen in years and forgotten how good they were, learned about an interesting story going on in the world, seen what a friend experienced, revisited something I experienced, or just been entertained. I can’t always tell you what the video was about but it’s been a good distraction and I’ve enjoyed them.

I’ve always enjoyed watching videos online because I get out of them the things listed above. Recently when it comes to news stories I prefer watching a video about it than reading an article. I can’t completely explain why since I’m such a big reader in general, but I like to see pictures and visuals along with the story.

Day 133: Thank you Lord for online videos, not just as the distractions I’ve needed this week, but as different ways to get information and entertainment.
