#416: 2014

Happy New Year! I can’t believe 2014 is over already. 2014 was certainly an interesting year for me; full of ups and downs, like most years. I learned a lot about myself, something I’ve only fully realized recently and which will probably be the subject of an upcoming post. I got to travel to a place that I love again, and had some cool experiences. I’m excited for 2015 and what God has in store for me, but I’m also glad for the adventures of 2014.

#415: Thank you Lord for 2014 and all that happened to me. I’m grateful for what you’ve taught me and all the things I got to experience.

Day 365: A New Year

Well… I did it! I reached day 365 of my blog and I can’t believe it! It’s been an amazing year, thanks in great part to writing this blog! When I started January 1st I had no idea what this year would hold, and now looking back it’s been an awesome year! I’ve gotten to do some cool things, had some trials along the way, I’ve grown as a person and in my faith, learned things about myself, and gone on an amazing journey through writing this blog.

Enough looking behind, it’s time to look forward, after all isn’t that what most people do on New Years? 2014 will be here in a few hours, and after all that God has done this year I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do in the year to come. I’m planning on keeping up with this blog, though not every day, and probably starting a new one in the next few months. Other than that I have no idea what’s going to happen in the weeks and months to come, but that’s what I like about a new year, it stretches ahead of us and we have no idea what’s coming. It’s exciting and new!

Day 365: Thank you Lord for the year that’s coming in a few hours! I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen!

Day 79: Spring

Happy First Day of Spring! I look forward to spring every year, after the cold months of winter and snow it’s nice to feel it getting warm again. I love watching the flowers and trees come to life again and bloom. It’s so beautiful! It wrecks havoc on my allergies, but the sight is worth it for me! It’s wonderful to see new life coming about every year.

Day 79: Thank you Lord for Spring, it’s such a beautiful season, and such a wonderful reminder of new life.

Day 32: January

January 2013 was an interesting month. Nothing too big or exciting happened to me (besides starting this blog) but the weather here was kinda crazy. The temperature went from well below freezing as well as several days of snow to 70 degrees and Tornado watches! I don’t think I ever remember a weirder January weather wise.

I’ve always enjoyed January. It’s usually the winter month where we get the most snow (though that’s not always the case), and it’s when we start things all over again. I know with God we can choose anytime to begin again but there’s something nice about having a whole new year to work on things.

Day 32: Thank you Lord for the month of January, where we can start a whole new year with a clean slate.

Day 4: 2013

Today I am thankful for the year 2013. Just as each day is a chance to start anew so is each year. After a rollercoaster year last year (see yesterday’s post) I am looking forward to this new year. I do not know what God has in store for me this year but I am looking forward to finding out!

Day 4: Thank you Lord for a new year! Use me this year for your glory, and bring me closer to you.

Day 3: 2012

To say the year 2012 was a rollercoaster year for my family would almost be an understatement. The year began normally enough nothing special or significant happened until March when three years after graduating from college I finally found a full-time permanent job. Nothing related to my major but after three years I was happy.

For the first time ever all four members of my family had permanent jobs, for three weeks at least. Then my dad was let go from his job of 25 years when the company he worked for dissolved his department, and a few weeks later my brother was let go from the internship that had turned into a job. In the space of two months I went from being the only person in my family not working to the only one with a full-time job.

Needless to say we went through a rough summer. We had to cancel our planned family vacation at the beginning of June, and money was fairly tight. In July my brother found a new job which he enjoys, and my dad began taking subcontractor work. By the end of the year things were looking a lot better than they had during the summer.

Personally all of this took its toll on me. I let a lot of the things going on with my family personally and suffered what I believe to have been an anxiety attack lasting several days.

2012 was not all bad for me. Besides finding a full-time job, I was able perform in a musical variety show, attend a Christian conference and while there spend an afternoon at EPCOT Park, make some cool friends at my new job, spend a day in NYC, and attend a performance of my favorite musical “The Sound of Music” at a local dinner theater. Through it all God has taught me that I need to rely on him ultimately for my security, and while that is something it easy for me to forget at times I know it is true.

Day 3: Thank you Lord for the year 2012. It was not an easy year with all of its ups and downs, but I know I have come out of it a better person with a stronger faith.
