#439: Nice Weather Today

This afternoon we lost power for about an hour and a half for no apparent reason. The weather is so nice today, not too hot or cold, and it’s bright and sunshiny. If we had to lose power I couldn’t ask for better weather, in the summer at least. We opened the windows and the shades to let the air and sunshine in. It was perfect until the power came back on.

#439: Thank you Lord for the nice weather today, so we didn’t suffer when the power went out and had enough light to be able to do what we needed today.

Day 273: September

I can’t believe it’s the last day of September already! The year is going by so quickly! September is an interesting month to me, it changes seasons from Summer to Fall, and school begins at the beginning of the month. Some years September feels more like Summer and others it feels like Fall, often depending on the weather. It’s a month of change as the weather starts getting cooler, and the leaves begin changing color and falling off the trees. When I was little I couldn’t wait for September to be over because that meant it was almost time for my birthday!

Day 273: Thank you Lord for the beautiful month of September, where we see the seasons change along with the trees and the temperatures.

Day 245: Labor Day

Happy Labor Day! Labor Day is one of the holidays that I’ve never completely understood the meaning of or purpose behind. I did read an article today that said it was created to celebrate America’s workforce, which I guess is a good thing, especially since it was first created in the late 1800’s when working conditions and laws weren’t as good or safe as they are today. I’m sure people back then appreciated a day off much more than they do today.

Not that people today don’t appreciate Labor Day, I know I do. It’s nice to have a day off at the end of the Summer to relax and go to the pool while it’s still open. But I always thought it was kinda weird that schools start the week before Labor Day then have Monday off. As a Homeschooler growing up we almost always started school the day after Labor Day.

Day 245: Thank you Lord for Labor Day, it’s so nice to have one last day off before Summer’s over.

Day 243: August

I can’t believe it’s the last day of August already! Not that it’s gone by fast for me, actually it’s been kinda slow, but a lot of stuff happened this month and it’s kinda hard to believe it all happened within a month! What’s happened this August? Let’s see… overall the weather’s been all over the place temperature wise but generally cooler than normal, I went on a couple of fun trips, oh yeah and at the beginning of the month our dishwasher caught fire! It’s certainly been an interesting month.

I like August, it’s such an interesting month, it’s still Summer but things are winding down. A lot of people take one last vacation before school starts, and then school starts at the end of the month. It’s a transition month for most people even though Fall doesn’t officially begin till mid-September, to me it feels like fall begins at the end of the month, and sometimes weather wise it does!

Day 243: Thank you Lord for the month of August, so we can enjoy our last bit of official Summer before Fall and school begin!

Day 217: Cooler Weather in the Summer

I don’t know how the weather’s been where you live this Summer but where I live it’s been a real seesaw. There’ve been days where the temperature was over 100 degrees, and days in the 70’s and 80’s, there was even a day where it was so cool I had to wear long pants. It’s certainly been an interesting Summer temperature wise. Summer should be hot in my opinion, but we’ve had so many REALLY hot days this Summer, it’s been nice to have some cooler days to balance it out. I wouldn’t want a Summer with only cooler days but a few here and there is really nice.

Day 217: Thank you Lord for cooler days during the Summer, so we can have a break from the heat, and not be broiling all the time!

Day 213: July

I can’t believe yesterday was the last day of July! It’s funny though, the first half of the year went by really fast for me, but July seemed to go much slower, not that it dragged it just didn’t seem to pass as quickly as the early part of the year. For me July means summer. It’s often the hottest month of the year where I live and while it’s not the only month of summer June is half Spring, August is getting towards the end, and while September is partially Summer I never think of it that way. Growing up it was usually the month where we went on vacation, spent time in the pool, attended VBS, went to camp, all the things that mean summer to me. In the US it’s also the month where we celebrate our nation’s independence. On the whole July might be my favorite month.

Day 213: Thank you Lord for the month of July where we can really enjoy summer, and celebrate our independence.

Day 184: Air Conditioning Repairmen

When I arrived at work this morning I noticed it was a bit warmer than usual inside the building, but because of the heat outside I didn’t think too much about it at the time. Around lunchtime I realized that it MUCH warmer than usual, and while the air conditioner was running it wasn’t at full strength. I have a fairly high heat tolerance, but at one point it got so warm in the building that I didn’t know how much longer I could stand it. (The temperature got up to the high 80’s at least) Fortunately right about then was when the air conditioning kicked back in. I was SO thankful right then for whoever fixed it!

Day 184: Thank you Lord for air conditioning repairmen who fix it when we need it so we don’t have to suffer in the heat!
