#439: Nice Weather Today

This afternoon we lost power for about an hour and a half for no apparent reason. The weather is so nice today, not too hot or cold, and it’s bright and sunshiny. If we had to lose power I couldn’t ask for better weather, in the summer at least. We opened the windows and the shades to let the air and sunshine in. It was perfect until the power came back on.

#439: Thank you Lord for the nice weather today, so we didn’t suffer when the power went out and had enough light to be able to do what we needed today.

#437: Making it Home Safely Saturday Night

I had an awesome day Saturday with some friends about an hour and a half away from where I live. It was a great day, however the drive home was anything but. A huge thunderstorm rolled in with high winds, torrential rain, and lots and lots of lightening. It got so bad that at times you couldn’t see five feet in front of the car; fortunately every time that happened there were no other cars anywhere close to us. To make matters worse, our drive should’ve been almost all highway, but our GPS went on the fritz and took us on a round-a-bout trip through the countryside before we got to the highway. I’d be hard pressed to think of many worse conditions to drive home in, but we made it home safely, and I’m so grateful to God for getting us through that safely.

#437: Thank you Lord for getting us home safely Saturday night, we couldn’t have done it without your help.

Day 218: Raincoats

It’s been pretty rainy all day today so I was glad to be inside for most of the day. Unfortunately I was in such a hurry this morning that I forgot my raincoat or anything else with a hood, since it wasn’t actually raining when I left the house. I don’t mind getting a little wet if it’s just raining a bit but I hate getting soaked when it’s raining hard and I forgot my raincoat. Fortunately every time I went outside today it wasn’t raining very hard, but if it was I’d be really upset that I didn’t have my raincoat. I didn’t have an umbrella either, but I don’t like to use them unless I have to, they always get in my way and you have to find a place to put them while you can keep wearing your raincoat if you have to.

Day 218: Thank you Lord for Raincoats to keep me dry when it rains!

Day 181: June

I can’t believe its the last day of June already and the year is half over! This month has gone by so fast and especially the last two weeks. At the beginning of the month it was Spring and now it’s summer. I think months where the season changes in the middle are interesting in general but especially June. Depending on the year the temperature can still be cool at the beginning of the month, but by the end it’s blazing hot! Because of the weather some years I think of June being a summer month and other years I think of it as still spring.

Day 181: Thank you Lord for the month of June and it’s interesting weather, where we say good-bye to Spring and transition into summer.

Day 172: Summer

Happy first day of Summer! Growing up I’d tell people Summer was my favorite season, because I was out of school, I could go swimming, It was hot, we’d go on vacation, etc. Now I don’t think I have a favorite season, there’s something I like about each one of them. I still enjoy summer. It gets so cold during the winter it’s nice to have a season that’s the opposite. We need balance and summer definitely helps provide that each year.

Day 172: Thank you Lord for summer, when the weather gets hot, and we can enjoy time in the sun!

Day 151: May

If you’ve been reading my blog all month you should know this hasn’t been an easy month for me. Has it really been less than a month since that day? I’ve made it through, and I’m looking forward to what will happen next.

May is such a beautiful month. Flowers are blooming, my allergies are going crazy, the weather’s getting warmer, but it’s usually not too hot like summer. I think it’s so appropriate that we celebrate Mothers in May because they are just as beautiful and wonderful as the month itself.

Day 151: Thank you Lord for the beautiful month of May. Thank you for helping me through this May, just like you always do.

Day 143: Rain

We had a pretty big thunderstorm here tonight, and I must say I’m not a big fan of them. When I was little they scared me half to death, and I don’t think I’ve ever completely gotten over that fear. They don’t scare me anymore, but they do bother me.

The one good thing about storms like tonight is they come with a lot of rain, which we need. Rain is good it waters the earth and helps plants to grow, but too much rain can be a bad thing. Of course if rains when you have outside plans that can be a bad thing, but in terms of the world around us it’s a good thing.

Day 143: Thank you Lord for rain to water the earth and help us whether or not we can see it at the time.
